KENLEY’S STEPThere’s over 100 steps to Planet Beach and just one that rises. After promising to wake the Komodo guys, Kenley changes his mind, turns off his headlamp to sneak past Komodo before dawn for a lonely surf, but promptly falls hard on this one step. The bruise put him out of the surf. Everyone agreed it was Karma. PRIZE: Thanks to David Green for the peaked cap with the tiny LED light and the word’s “Kenny’s Step”. Kerry performed the hand-over commemoration ceremony when Kenley came back to Planet a few months later. |
WIERDEST NIGHTThere’s been many, but Kerry remembers an evening many years ago. There was a rumour that a truckload of robbers was coming. Our one security staff, Ursi, enlisted the help of many friends. They sat waiting with blunt spears and rusty machetes, the Lombok Dad’s Army. Kerry was woken in the night to shouting and no lights. With a strong sense of urgency, he jumps out of bed naked and barefoot to find the commotion. Turns out the generator ran out of fuel, and the robbers were just a rumour. PRIZE: Great memories of the early days |
