When you come to Heaven on the Planet, you are helping to support the local community, both directly through jobs for staff and indirectly via the help we give to our friends.
We employ up to 40 permanent staff, with 80% from uneducated nearby villages. Our assertive programme of supporting female staff gives them rare opportunities to work in a resort. Our training programmes help young tourism graduates to get resort experience and many eventually get jobs with us. We are regularly training our staff to help them improve. We support the Mosque, local projects through donations to the District and we support the local football players. Villagers are offered free space in the Resort to sell their wares. The Resort takes no profit or income from this. No casual hawking is allowed, so the guests can relax and enjoy their holiday.
The villagers appreciate our assistance with the Mosque and district security. Various western visitors have been hosted by Planet to teach English, train in massage and teach new skills like Yoga, farming methods and surf lessons. Many guests bring old clothes and other gifts which they give to an excited village. The property provides firewood for Festivals, food for the village goats and other help. Village farmers with no personal land are allowed to use a percentage of our land for farming each year. Co-operation with local schools includes occasional visits from western teachers, assisting tourism students and trainee programmes at Planet.
